Douglas DC-6A N6174C (44075/451) last operated by Northern Air Cargo is captured in the above photo arriving on Rwy 14 in Anchorage, Alaska on April 30, 2008. What makes the photo interesting is that the DC-6A's big cousin, the MD-11(F) operated by United Parcel Service (UPS) is seen in the background making her way to Rwy 14 for a morning departure.

This DC-6A was originally delivered to Flying Tiger Line on March 9th, 1954 as N34959 serving with the carrier until May 15, 1958 when it was leased to Overseas Airlines. The carrier re-registered the aircraft to N402US on October 17, 1958. On October 16, 1963 the DC-6A was leased to International Airlines who re-registered the aircraft on October 23rd, 1963 to N1281. The carrier bought the DC-6A on December 31, 1964 and immediately sold the aircraft to Foreign Air Transport. On September 1st, 1965 the aircraft was bought by Aaxico Airlines who had Saturn Airways manage the DC-6A until June 19, 1970 when Associates Capital Corporation bought then stored the aircraft at Tucson, Arizona. In April 1972 Zantop International Airlines leased the eventually bought the DC-6A on May 19, 1975.

In March 1990, the DC-6A was bought by Conifair Aviation where the aircaft served until October 1996 as C-GBYN when it was WFU and stored at Quebec City, Canada. On June 4th, 2002 the aircraft was bought by Northern Air Cargo with who it served as N6174C until being retired in late 2008.
